It's Never Too Late To Be A Late Starter

It's Never Too Late To Be A Late Starter

I was 60 years old when I went to art school. This followed a wild career featuring entertainment; music; acting; journalism and so much more.

But it took courage to do this. What if I failed? What if nobody bought my work? What if I looked stupid?

But you know what - none of this happened. Even the act of trying something new garnered respect, and people were more than enthusiastic at the results.

The key to doing this was perseverance.  I didn't let that doubting voice get me down. I didn't let it stop me learning or practising. Or talking about what I was doing.

From the moment I began producing work I became an artist. And that was key. I never said 'I want to be an artist', because I already was one! I was painting and drawing and experimenting, so that made me valid. And that mental shift meant  things started to move. This is very much the theme of my 'Cosmic Explorer' collection. It's about chaos and calm; exploration; inspiration and going further than you ever imagined.

My journey was fairly linear because I stuck at it. The study and practice. Finding my style. Building a collection. Exhibiting. And then sales.

If you are considering a change of direction then ask yourself how you will feel at the end of your life if you didn't do it? Nobody dies saying I'm so glad I spent all that overtime at the office.' But they do pass regretting taking the leap.

Follow your heart and your desire. Live life to the full and do what makes you happy.
